Pennsylvania
State Representative Jaret Gibbons (D-Lawrence) has introduced a bill, HB 2500, which would limit members to 12 consecutive years in each chamber.
The bill, however, also extends the length of terms for House Members from 2 to 4 years, and Senate Members from 4 to 6 years.
If passed in two consecutive terms, HB 2500, would then be placed on the ballot for voter approval.
US Term Limits feels that 12 years is way too long, and that the bill should not apply to consecutive years. Additionally, the length of terms should not be changed.
Contact your Representative, and tell them the bill needs the following amendments
- The bill should allow for House Members to serve 2 three year terms.
- The bill should allow for Senators to serve 2 four year terms.
- The bill should be lifetime terms, not consecutive terms.
- The bill should NOT extend the length of a term.
